The AAF is Back in NYC
The AAF is currently taking place through Sunday, May 8. This
biannual Fair highlights contemporary work that ranges in price from $100 to
$10,000. The artwork on display is dynamic, cutting edge and yet accessible
at the same time. The preview night on Wednesday was well attended and
there was a feeling of excitement and electricity in the exhibition space. There are
upwards of 75 international galleries represented. Given the price point, the
variety of media, and the welcoming nature of the galleries, this is definitely
a must visit for any individual in search of cutting edge artwork, either to buy
or simply view.
Among the artists exhibited by Gallery Victoria Kovalenchikova from Amsterdam
are the mixed media works by Julia Winter. Born in Moscow and now living in
Amsterdam, Winter’s pieces are a fascinating blend of layered photographs and
handwriting, creating mysterious figures that change as the viewer moves.
